Washington, DC

This year for Easter break we thought it would be fun to take a trip to Washington, DC.   I am the first to admit that dragging an 8 and almost 6 year old around Washington, DC does have it's challenges, but it was also one of our best vacations EVER.   Washington, DC is a great city and there was so much to do and see that it was almost overwhelming.

These were some of my families favorites:

The Air & Space Museum - My kids loved it but my husband and I weren't that impressed.
The Capitol with the Capitol Tour - I love me a tour so this was perfect and there were so many interesting things that we learned about the Capitol.  Contact your Congress(wo)man to get tickets.
The Spy Museum - This is not a Smithsonian Museum so there is a charge to get in but it was well worth it.
The Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument - Breathtaking
Arlington National Cemetery - I remember going to Arlington when I was 6 and seeing the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, that really stuck with me.
National Museum of American History - It was really cool seeing the American Flag that inspired "The Star Spangled Banner"
Natural History Museum - We spend a lot of time here because my kids love dinosaurs and animals.
The White House Tour - The tour is only 30 minutes and doesn't show a lot but it is really interesting to go inside. You can also get tickets from your Congress(wo)man.

Here are just a few of the highlights from our trip:
