Sometimes inspiration can come from seemingly the most ordinary things. Ok, I will be the first to admit, that I am usually inspired by some very mundane things and today was no exception. I was standing in my kitchen drinking a glass of chocolate milk while trying to read one of the many magazines that we seem to subscribe to, when the shadow from my glass on the wall caught my eye. I ran and got my camera because when it comes to sunlight you have to work quickly because the lighting can change dramatically in just a few minutes. I shot the glass for about a minute before I needed something to help elevate the glass to keep it in the sunlight and for this I used a glass casserole dish. The casserole dish itself created some really cool ethereal shadows and I used one of those images for Project 365 today.
What I really like about these images is that they have a vintage look(only the contrast was adjusted). They remind me of photographs taken by a great photographer named Ruth Bernhard in the 1940's and 1950's.
I love finding something cool or beautiful in an unexpected place. It just reminds me to always keep my eyes open and slow down or you risk missing something interesting or beautiful.
